Welcome back, My Dear Shoevians, to another year of; ‘Lost in Space’, ‘News from Around the World’, ‘The Mars Report’, and so much more! Just today I have renewed my hosting for this blog. Until this past week I had feared that I would be unable to continue this journey with you My Dear Shoevians.

.

This doubt had helped to silence my online voice, however now that I have met this challenge, and prevailed, I feel confident enough to write and publish again. I know that it will take time, to rebuild the, once huge, traffic to this blog. I know that and determine to meet this challenge head-on.

.

There will be many changes, over the coming months, to this blog. As I have aged, I have changed and so will this blog. I will be sharing more and more videos of game play from such venerable PC titles as; World of Warcraft, Rift, The Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo 3, and Star Wars the Old Republic. As well I will be following, very closely, the investigation into collusion by members of the Trump for President 2016 campaign and Russia. Just this week, The Other Shoe dropped proving that Donald Trump, Jr. willing took a meeting with members of Russian intelligence with the sole purpose of coordinating assistance from the Russian government.

.

Let me not get too far ahead of the game, and my publishing. It is good to be back. It is good to know that, for at least the next six months, this blog location is still mine! I will warn you, My Dear Shoevians, that at first… the articles will be few. I will not jump right back into publishing five to seven articles per week. However, I am committed to writing and publishing just as much and as often as my health and pain will allow.

.

I, genuinely, look forward to the coming months and our continuing journey here at The Other Shoe!

.

Take Care

&

Adieu!

.

Welcome, My Dear Shoevians, to ‘Journey to LA –August 9th, 2106’ right here at ‘The Other Shoe’! It is great to be back here writing and publishing on my blog. The Democratic Primary is now over so I can feel free to write and post what I really feel with (less) fear of recriminations. Secretary Hillary Clinton is the ‘Democratic Party Nominee for President’ and (at this moment in time) she is walloping the (dubious and nefarious) Donald ‘Thieving’ Trump by double digits in most polls. However, that is not the thrust of today’s article.

.

.

Today I am here to relay the events, and videos, of my most recent trip form (my home in) Orange County all the way into Rolling Hills Estates/Rancho Palos Verdes of Los Angeles. It is a long and, often, arduous journey for myself and Allen (my caregiver/roommate).  For your viewing enjoyment, today, I have several ALL NEW pictures. These images were taken at Disneyland and in Rancho Palos Verdes during my journey. As well, there will be four All New Videos for your viewing pleasure. I hope that all of you, My Dear Shoevians, enjoy reading this article and viewing these videos and images as much as I did providing them to you!

.

.

The video, above, was taken in the parking lot of the building I live in just prior to the OCTA Access bus arrived to transport me to Disneyland. For those of you, My Dear Shoevians, those are new to this site (and my ‘Journey to LA’ series? Once each, and every three months, I make a very long (and tiresome… often upsetting) journey from here in Orange County (Huntington Beach to be exact) all the way (past Long Beach and San Pedro) into Los Angeles. My final destination is the Promenade on the Peninsula. In the image, below, you can get a good idea of the journey I make… via Public Transportation (for the Disabled). I start from the right side of the image where you see ‘Westminster’ and travel all the way to the left side of the image to the red marked above ‘Dr. Gorlick’ in Rolling Hills Estates.

.

Promenade on the Peninsula

(Map of Southern California Showing Start & Finish)

.

Now some of you, My Dear Shoevians, might (reasonably) wondering “Why?” do I make this long and tiring journey every three months, and with good reason. Dr. Gorlick is my doctor. I started under his care back in 2005, when I was approved for Medicare (finally) and was able to pick my own doctor. Since I have been under his care I have; undergone surgery (Cervical Fusion) on my neck, fell victim to a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) (a type of mini-stroke), developed ‘Left Foot Drop’, become confined to a power chair, been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, undergone chemotherapy, and (most recently) been diagnosed with (now) “Severe Degenerative Disc Disease” “Severe Spinal Stenosis” “Multiple Herniated Discs” and (now) the discovery that the degenerative disc disease is now in my lumber spine, too.

.

.

Through it all Dr. Gorlick has ‘had my back’! When I come to him needing a power chair, he helps me get all sorts of paperwork to a prosthetics doctor (even though that… nut case REFUSED to SUBMIT the paperwork) Dr. Gorlick HELPED! When I discovered a lump under my chin, he examined it and referred me to a doctor that helped diagnose my cancer. When I was diagnosed with cancer Dr. Gorlick (again) gave me the name of an Oncologist that he personally knew!   When I come to him and I am unable to bear the level of pain, he helps by increasing my pain medications… time and time again!

.

Danny @ Disneyland with Matterhorn in Background

(Danny @ Disneyland with Matterhorn in Background)

.

THAT is “Why?” I make this (often arduous) journey ever three months! I am very fortunate to have found a doctor as experienced… as knowledgeable… as compassionate… as caring and considerate as Dr. Gorlick that accepts Medicare! I was lucky to have found him, some eleven years ago, and I am fortunate that he continues my care. Now back to the journey, itself. My Dear Shoevians, I have to be honest (as I am in all things) and tell you that this journey? Well, this journey was one of the most uneventful… quickest and most enjoyable journeys of all that I have made to Rolling Hills Estates in the past five years!

.

(Danny at Dr. Gorlick’s Office August 9th, 2016)

(Danny at Dr. Gorlick’s Office August 9th, 2016)

.

For five years I have sat at Disneyland, dropped off by OCTA Access, to be picked up my LA Access. Every single time we have made, at least one, stop during our journey into L.A. However, not this time! This time the driver was a Trainee and there was a supervisor in the back with Allen. There were no pickups. There were no drop-offs! We traveled, quickly, from Disneyland to Rolling Hills Estates and made it there in about an hour! That gave Allen, and myself, time to pick up a little lunch at the Subway in the mall next to where Dr. Gorlick’s office is located.

.

.

As well, on the ride back there was only one person to drop off, and then it was a quick ride into Orange County. This time I even convinced the driver to use the Carpool Lane (I know… you would think that they all would want to use the carpool lane!!… Not so!) The drive home was quick and uneventful and that left us (Allen and I) the time to make the Final Video that you see above! My Dear Shoevians, that video was one of the very best I (feel) I have ever made! It was fun! It was spontaneous! And, I enjoyed making the video.

.

With that, My Dear Shoevians, I will bring this edition of ‘Journey to LA’ to a close. Oh, yeah, Dr. Gorlick improved my pain medications! So, YES! YES, I will be working towards writing and publishing on a regular basis, again.

.

I would like to express my deep appreciation to you, My Dear Shoevians, for your interest in my blog(s), my writing, my stories and hope that you drop by often and SHARE my blog and articles (via your social media) so that others can enjoy, too!

.

THANK YOU!

.

Adieu!

President Obama with his SCOTUS nominee Judge Merrick Garland
President Obama with his SCOTUS nominee Judge Merrick Garland

Welcome back, My Dear Shoevians, to The Other Shoe. Today I am going to take the opportunity to point out one of the failings of America’s Democracy. Hang on, let me be clear America’s CURRENT Democracy’ because, as you will learn from this article the level of intransigence, by Senate Republicans, is a new and disturbing wrinkle in our democratic process. If you are on of my American readers, you are completely aware of the publicized intransigence of our Republican Senators. Violating the Constitution, Senate Republicans abdicated there right/responsibility of “advice and consent” of a Presidential nomination of a replacement for a open seat on the highest court of our land, the Supreme Court of the United States.

.

Now, for those Shoevians that did not take civics in high school, here is the salient paragraph of the U.S Constitution:

.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.”[1]

.

A simple read, even for all my readers that are not U.S. citizens, yes? According to Article 2 Section 2 Paragraph 2 the sitting U.S. President has the right/responsibility/honor/DUTY to nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the Supreme Court…” Now, American Republicans are always harping on; “follow the Constitution…”, “honor the Constitution…” “STICK TO the Constitution…” Unless/Until doing so puts their interests are jeopardy. Right?

.

MORE for my International Shoevians – America is embroiled in an era of hyper partisanship that we have not see since the Civil War[2]. I am not proud of this fact, in fact I have often written about this symptom of a social disease, and will continue to point out that it is (primarily) one party that had brought the division and intransigence to our government and our nation’s governance. This malady started with the (artificial) creation of the ‘Tea Party’. (A misnomer and disingenuous on its face because there never was a political party by that name) Now, the intransigence that has earned the House of Representatives the moniker “The Least Productive Congress in History”. Now, this social disease has infected the Republican leaders of our elder body (of our Congress) the Senate.

.

According to the U.S. Constitution clearly states that a sitting President shall (for every day of his term) shall appoint nominees for vacancies on the highest court of our land, the Supreme Court of the United States. Nowhere in our defining document of our democracy does it; state, hint, imply or define that a President, in his last year of elected office shall not exercise his Constitutional responsibility and neither shall the Senate do exercise their Constitutional responsibilities. This is an unusual, but not ever rare, occurrence. So, My Dear Shoevians, there is history for us to look at. I have borrowed the research, below, to minimize my level of pain… writing and publishing this article, today.

.

History of Final Year Nominations of Supreme Court Vacancies:

.

• 1968: President Lyndon Johnson — who announced he would not run for re-election — nominated Associate Justice Abe Fortas as Chief Justice and Homer Thornberry to fill Fortas’ vacancy. Fortas’ nomination failed, Thornberry withdrew his nomination and Chief Justice Earl Warren remained on the bench, delaying his retirement.

• 1932, President Herbert Hoover nominated Benjamin Cardozo. Hoover lost to Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

• 1912: President William Taft successfully nominated Mahlon Pitney to the Supreme Court. Taft lost to Woodrow Wilson.

Three other presidents made successful Supreme Court nominations while running for re-election, but unlike Taft and Hoover, they won another term:

• 1956: Dwight Eisenhower made a recess appointment of William Brennan.

• 1940: Franklin Delano Roosevelt nominated Frank Murphy.

• 1916: Woodrow Wilson nominated John Clarke and Louis Brandeis [3]

.

There we have it, My Dear Shoevians. Whereas this does not happen often (a sitting Supreme Court Justice passing/retiring) it does happen enough for us to have a recorded history to review. One cannot dictate when any given person will pass away (die), and I am sure that if someone could have asked Justice Antonin Scalia, prior to his death, he would have not wanted to pass away while there was a sitting President that was/is a Democrat. However, the fact remains that Justice Antonin Scalia did pass away while there was a Democrat in office.

.

Finally, for my international Shoevians, there is a hard reason for the intransigence of our Senate Republicans. The current make-up of our Supreme Court is 5/4. There are five conservative/conservative leaning Justices sitting on that bench and there are four Liberal/Liberal Leaning justices. This appointment can/will change that mix… and change it in favor of a ‘Liberal Bench’. These things happen, Americans. Maybe it is some Galactic Intervention because of rulings like; ‘Citizen’s United’[4] FYI that was a ruling, here in America, that gave corporations the same rights (as far as political contributions and influence) as a PERSON! Yes, that is completely absurd… bordering on insanity… and the why I think that reality is doing this shuffle on the bench.

.

Now, as all political followers know, there is brinkmanship in all types of self-governance. Be it a Republic or other type of Representative Government there is… discord and brinkmanship, but this is different, for America. I looked and looked and found one quote that helps me define how this is different.

.

Senator James Inhofe, R-OK
Senator James Inhofe, R-OK

Sen. Jim Inhofe (Ok.) “…we will not accept any nomination from President Obama.”

.

Does that sound like it is not personal? Be sure, this is personal and it is against our TWICE elected sitting President of the United States – President Barrack Obama. Yes, Republicans are fearful that if ‘Citizens United’ is brought before a new Supreme Court of the United States that has a more left-leaning court? It will be overturned. That is there fear and that is there motivation of not ever giving a hearing to the man President Obama just nominated for the open seat on the Supreme Court of the United States.

.

My Dear Shoevians, this is March of the final year of his Presidency. It is not like it is November and the American people have gone to the polls and elected the Republican nominee. This is much different. Historically, Presidents get hearing for nominations for the whole time they are elected to office!

.

America’s Republicans are making the American democracy appear broken! This is very very bad, and reflects poorly on our entire nation. Not just on Senate Republicans. Not just on Republicans. It reflects poorly on our entire nation… our Republic… our Democracy!America has the longest surviving democracy in the history of mankind. That is not just an honor. That is a responsibility! A responsibility to execute the responsibilities of your elected office every/all days your have been elected to serve. A handful of Senators, belonging to one party, cannot be allowed to besmirch the (long earned) reputation of this democracy. This is historically bad!

.

My Dear Shoevians, I am experiencing a lot of pain… at this point. So, I am going to cut this article short… here. I will be back to publish about this debacle… soon. I appreciate everyone that has come by to read and learn. Have a great Hump-Day and I will be back here, soon!

.

Adieu!

.

Thank you!

.

“Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends!” (a la Emerson Lake & Palmer)

.

Welcome back, My Dear Shoevians, to The Other Shoe. For the life of me, I never imagined that I would be away from writing and publishing this long. Today is Saturday February 13th, 2016 and yesterday I picked up this computer (my ‘writing computer’) from the shop. Again, the video card malfunctioned and it was in the shop for over a week. It is working, now, and it is my genuine intention to write and publish as much as my pain and shortcomings allow.

.

With the return to writing, and publishing, I will be making an effort to put in daily appearances at:Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+. Now, here is fair warning to all of you, My Dear Shoevians. As this is an election year, here in America, I will be; writing, publishing and promoting many ‘political’ articles. I know that there are a handful, of readers Shoevians that… well, do not enjoy my political articles. For them, I apologize, however… This year is, well, unusual (to say the least). Therefore, I feel compelled to make my voice hear and understood.

.

I will not tip my hand, right now, but I will tell you all that I have a lot to say and I will use very single writing and formatting (publishing) skill at my disposal to impart my point of view. Yet, let me put your minds at ease; I will continue to publish; ‘The Mars Report’, ‘Lost in Space’. ‘News from Around the World’, ‘Sunday Funnies’, and ‘A Week in Review’. These articles have been staples, here at The Other Shoe, and that is not about to change any time soon.

.

Now, to wrap up this announcement of my return, I want to introduce the very first article of my return to writing. Either today, or Monday, I will be publishing the newest installment of my quarterly publication; ‘Journey to L.A.!’. The article will include; three videos, a half-dozen still images, and a fairly entertaining story of my travel into Los Angeles and my return home. I will be using images from more than just the last journey, as I want to share all I witnessed… and I was hurting just too much to capture all the sights I encountered.

.

My Dear Shoevians, I invite you to check back (right here at The Other Shoe) often. Over the next several weeks I will be working all hours of day and night to write and publish as many articles (each and every week) as is humanly possible, As well, I will be purchasing ad time (by selling… some things I own) on Facebook and other outlets in order to drive more traffic right here!

.

Finally, I want to tell all of you, My Dear Shoevians, that I have missed you greatly… I have missed writing and publishing… I have deeply missed contact and conversations with all of you! I, do, love to write… but just as much (if not even more) I love to talk and share! I encourage all of you, My Dear Shoevians, to; share, question my writings, and comment as much and as often as you want.

.

I hope that we can make this blog(s) more interactive than before. I do value your; input, ideas, comments, criticism. When we work together (to make this blog better/stronger) we work together for a better blog… and a forum where we are all equals.

.

Thank you!

.

Adieu!

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today is Thursday November 5th, 2015 and at midnight, tonight, I will loose my broadband internet connection… for good. My Dear Shoeviansthis is the event that has hung over my head these past several months. Yes, my health is compromised and I am physically unable to maintain my previous writing/publishing schedule. However, though my desire to write and publish has never left me, I just couldn’t bring myself to committing to something that will end… tonight.

.

For the past five years my broadband internet connection was provided by Clear. Clear is merging with Sprint, as of 12:01 tonight, and ending my five year relationship with the only broadband 4G LTE internet in my area. Living, as I do, in a ‘non-apartment’ building (due to insufficient income –S.S.D., I am unable to ‘qualify’ for an apartment) I have limited ‘options’. The building comes with basic cable (included) and for that reason Time/Warner will not provide my own internet connection.

.

Until, unless, I can find and secure a broadband internet connection, My Dear Shoevians, this will likely be my last posting here at The Other Shoe. After five years and more than 650 articles; spanning the depth and breadth of topics and subject matter from NASA/JPL Mars Exploration from Opportunity/Spirit to the current Curiosity rover, to cooking/baking, American politics to international treaties and affairs. My Dear Shoevians I have worked to entertain and enlighten you, as an audience, these past five years.

.

It is my ardent hope that, within the coming weeks/months, I find another broadband internet connection. I am not only loosing my internet voice… I am loosing; my ability to play on line games (like World of Warcraft, Aion, Rift, and FPS games), Netflix, Vudu, and all but limited (email and browsing) internet availability. YES! My Dear Shoevians, this IS the reason for my emotional distance and depression. My connection to the internet has been a connection to; friends, family, Facebook, games, my BLOGS… life outside the four walls I live.

.

Finally, I would like to say “Thank you!” to all of you, My Dear Shoevians, for years and years of readership. Without witch, I could have never made it through my battles. So, for now, I hope this isnot “Good-Bye” but merely… until we meet again.

.

Adieu!

.

Thank you!

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. In my last article, the very first since my computer problem, I expressed my “Deep and Heartfelt Thanks” to all of you, My Dear Shoevians, that donated to my ‘Computer Repair Fund’. Today, my reason for writing is twofold. First, I wanted to share the proof that the donations I accepted actually did go for repairing my ‘writing computer’ (my HP DV 9500t CTO Notebook Computer). So, I present to you, My Dear Shoevians, scans of the receipts from H.B. Computerz.

.

(Scan of Original Receipt for Repairs)

.

As I explained, on Facebook and via; personal messages, emails and phone calls Amir (the owner ofH.B. Computerz) quoted me a price of:

.

  • $195.00 for motherboard repair )parts included)
  • $130.00 for screen repair (parts included)

.

As it turned out, the computer could be (simply) repaired and there was no need to replace the motherboard. However, the monitor did need to be replaced, and Amir gave me a great deal.

.

.

Second, I wanted to take the time (right here, today) to express my genuine gratitude to Amir, Samand all the staff at H.B. Computerz. I could tell that Amir, and all his technical staff, took their work very seriously and treated every customer with respect. Each and every time that I called I was helped expeditiously and professionally. I have to tell you, My Dear Shoevians, that that has become a rarity in America. This level of service and professionalism is (now) the exception and not the rule. That is unfortunate, and the major reason that I have taken the time to write this article of“Thanks!”. As well, I wanted to make sure that all of you, My Dear Shoevians, that live here in Southern California (mostly South L.A. and North Orange county) that there is a great place to have your computer work preformed.

Now, H.B. Computerz is not limited to just repairing computers. Rather than just mention all the services that they provide, here is a listing from their web site (you can go to their web site by clicking on their name anywhere in this article, or on any of the stickers and/or business cards).

.

.

As you can see, MY Dear Shoevians, if you have a computer or data need, either personal of corporate, H.B. Computerz has you covered. Just to make sure that I have made my point:

.

Amir, THANK YOU for your complete and professional service on my laptop computer. THANK YOU!

.

.

I hope that Amir, Sam and all the technical support and sales personnel have a chance to see this article. Their service has been very important to me, as it has given me back my Voice on the Internet! With my four blog locations:

.

The Other Shoe’s Oldest Blog Location

The Other Shoe Secondary Location

The Other Shoe Most Recent Blog Location

.

I will be expressing my “THANKS!” and I will be posting free advertisement for the next month… or so. It is just my way for showing my genuine gratitude for your professional work, and the great dealyou gave me on the repairs. You can rest assured that any and all computer work and repairs I need in the future? I will be taking my business to H.B. Computerz.

.

That brings us to the end of this article for today, October 15th, 2015. Now… for a little blog business.

.

My Dear Shoevians, I wanted to take a moment and touch base with all of you. When I posted my article of heartfelt thanks to those of you, My Dear Shoevians, that kindly donated to my ‘Writing Computer Repair Fund’. I indicated that I would be returning to a regular publishing schedule as soon as was possible. I would like to express my sincere apology for not reaching that goal, as of yet.

.

I am not too sure as to why I have encountered the physical problems I have… since the return of my computer. I know that last; Friday, Saturday and Sunday I spent ‘out and about’ taking care of errands (like picking up the repaired computer, purchasing a new UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) to protect my newly repaired computer, cleaning my writing desk, cleaning my power chair, and doing nine loads of laundry.

.

What ever the reason, I awoke Monday morning with both my hands swollen up like two ‘hand shaped’ balloons. I could barely move my fingers, and there was an extreme amount of pain; in my hands, in my neck, and in my lower back. This difficulty has been prohibitive, with regards to reaching my goal of writing and publishing on a regular schedule. However, my hands are improving and I hope to meet this schedule starting this next week.

.

I thank you for your understanding and support. I have continued to do my research for images and news on; Curiosity on Mars, the New Horizons Flight, and more and more images from the Hubble Space Telescope. Let me assure you, My Dear Shoevians, that there IS plenty of new and inspiring material for me to share. Just as soon as my pain subsides, my hands return to their regular size and I have full dexterity back? I will begin the work of returning to a regular writing and publishing schedule. Hang in there!

.

Adieu!

.

Thank you!

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. First, I would like to extend my heartfelt “THANKS!” to Jason Kleppinger for his donation of $25.00 to my ‘Computer Repair Fund’. This is my very first donation and I am hoping that, with the publication of this article, I might reach more of you, My Dear Shoevians, and convince you that my need is great and genuine. In this second article, regarding the death of my writing computer, I am including images of the; desktop, Device Manager, Device Tab and others as evidence that (in fact) my laptop (writing) computer is damaged and does need repair.

.

Device Information 'Welcome' Screen

(Device Information ‘Welcome’ Screen)

.

Since I first wrote of this problem I have been able to get two (over the phone) estimates for the cost of the repair. The estimates (so far) range from $225.00 to $460.00. Of course, I am going to take the computer to the repair company that offers to do the work for the lowest estimate. So far, that is $2250.00, but that is “sight unseen” and could go up (slightly) more if there is more wrong with the laptop. My Dear Shoevians, I have run several diagnostic programs on this laptop and have come to the conclusion that only one problem exists. The ‘Display Adapter’ is not working. I have: rebooted, removed the battery and let computer stand (without power) for two hours then rebooted, booted up without the ‘Repeater-Extension’ module connected, and ‘Uninstalled/Reinstalled’ the display adapter twice. All to no avail. The image below shows the ‘Device Manager’ with the error indicated with the ‘Display Adapter’.

.

.

In order to see the image better, just click on the image and it will take you to a full screen display of the image, this is true for all the image in this article and all images on my blog(s). You can clearly see the Yellow Triangle with the black apostrophe indicating that the problem device is the ‘Display Adapter’. This would be a very small problem with a desktop computer. Just as easy as buying a new (or used on eBay) Graphics card and installing said card into the computer. However, this is a laptop computer and that means that the ‘Display Adapter’ is built into the motherboard. That means, in order to fix the problem, the motherboard must be replaced.

The image, above, shows the ‘Display Adapter’ tab in the ‘Device Manager’ showing that there is a problem with that device and Windows has not/will not start the device until the problem is resolved. As I have indicated I have gone through any/all trouble shooting for this problem I could find; one the Windows web site, Tom’s Hardware web site, and the nVidia web site, too. I am very much certain that the replacement of the motherboard will resolve the problem I am having, and return to me my writing laptop computer.

With your contribution(s) (via PayPal) just use enzomatrix@earthlink.net and Daniel Hanning. The repair company HB Computers will be the company making the repairs on my HP DV9500t CTO laptop computer. This laptop computer, when new, cost me $2,000.00 and it still works incredibly well (aside from the display adapter not working), and with this repair I am certain that it will serve me another five years and another 500+ articles plus two more books in the ‘The Horror in Smithville’ series and two more books in the ‘The Adventures of Princess Nadia’ series.

.
My Dear Shoevians,
I do hope that you consider the information I have shared, look at the desktop and device manager images, and PLEASE consider assisting me in this venture of repairing my (desperately needed) writing computer. I have priced new laptop computers and found that a laptop (17.3′ screen, Geforce Video Card, three USB ports, extender port [an HP QuickDock 2.0 Docking Station – which I OWN] and a full sized keyboard with number keypad) would cost me between $2,000.00 and $3,000.00. This, investment, of $225 – $350 is a fraction of that amount and well spent.

.

Again, please go to PayPal to make your donation to Daniel Hanning enzomatrix@earthlink.net to help me get up and writing and publishing again… soon. Thank you for your time and effort… THANK YOU for your consideration and kindness… THANK YOU for EVERYTHING you do to HELP!

Walker Cuts ’16 Run Short Takes Jab at Trump

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. I return, from my week-long hiatus, to share with all of you news from the Republican Primary field. Today, just moments ago, Gov. Scott Walker “suspended” his 2016 Presidential run! Now, as if that is not news enough, it is how he “suspended” his run that merited me awakening from my much needed rest. Rather than paraphrase or beat around the bush, why don’t I just published what he said?

A 400 by 900 Light-Year Mosaic the Constellation Sagittarius

1(Galactic Center – Milky Way Galaxy)

.

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe and another Chandra edition of ‘Lost in Space’. I was so taken with the images I found, and shared, from the Chandra X-Ray Telescope that I have decided to revisit this platform and share even more of the incredible and memorable images that NASA has captured. Now, My Dear Shoevians, realize that the images that I am sharing, in this edition as well as the first (and any more to come) that I say come from Chandra? Well, they are composite images. They are composites made from images from; Chandra2, the Hubble3 telescope and Spitzer4 telescope. That means that each and every image, you see here today, was accomplished by (at least) three teams of scientists and visual specialists working in conjunction to produce images containing an; x-ray images, an optical image and infrared image.

.

We begin, today, with the image at the top of the page. This is one of the closest images, to date, of the very center of our Milky Way Galaxy. This is a mosaic of images focusing from between 400 light-years and 900 light-years near the constellation Sagittarius. This image reveals hundreds of white dwarf stars, neutron stars, and black holes bathed in an incandescent fog of multi-million-degree gas. It gives us, all, a new perspective on how the turbulent Galactic Center region affects the evolution of the galaxy as a whole. Looking at the very center of this image, you can see a white patch. At the very center of this white patch is a supermassive black hole. It is believed that most galaxies have a black hole (or supermassive black hole) at their center. The colors, in this image, indicate the X-Ray energy bands. They breakdown as; red=Low, green=medium and blue= high. The outflow of gases, from the Galactic Center region, which has been enriched by the frequent destruction of stars nourishes the galactic suburbs like Earth.

entaurus A: Black Hole Outflows From Centaurus A

5(Centaurus A: Black Hole Outflows From Centaurus A)

.

For our next image, of this edition of ‘Lost in Space’, I have a spectacular composite image of a Black Hole (and the outflow) at Centaurus A. This is another “Supermassive Black Hole”and we can clearly see the outflow as jets and lobes of galactic material. This image is a composite of orange colors from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile and blue colors from the Chandra X-Ray telescope. The x-ray jet, in the upper left hand corner, extends about 13,000 light-years away from the black hole. As well, the APEX telescope image shows that the material is jetting from the black hole at about half the speed of light! Using one of more of these space telescopes focusing at the same point in space gives us, not only, the most incredible visual image(s), it also allows scientists to garner the most information and the best comparative studies possible.

Crab Nebula: The Crab Nebula: A Cosmic Icon

6(Crab Nebula: The Crab Nebula: A Cosmic Icon)

.

Here, on Earth, the year was 1054AD. The place, was the constellation Taurus. The event was a death of a star, a supernova. It is now known as The Crab Nebula’. Now 1,000 years later we are just beginning to unlock the many secrets of this resulting Neutron Star. The image, above, is a composite from three different imaging sources; the Chandra X-Ray telescope, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Spitzer Infrared Space Telescope. Combing the imaging capabilities of these three space telescopes has unlocked many mysteries that this Crab Nebula has jealously guarded for the past thousand years. The Chandra image is shown in blue, the the Hubble’s image(s) are shown in red and yellow and the Spitzer image is shown in purple. The combination of these three imaging sources as given mankind unique insight to the inner workings of this icon of the sky. The information from the Chandra images shows this nebula as mighty cosmic “generator,” which is producing energy at the rate of 100,000 suns. The Crab Nebula is one of the most studied objects in the night sky, making this 1,000 year old neutron star a cosmic icon in the sky!

Cepheus B: Trigger-Happy Star Formation

7(Cepheus B: Trigger-Happy Star Formation)

.

Our next image, above, is of Cepheus B. Cepheus B is a mere 2,400 light-years away from Earth and is in the Milky Way Galaxy. NASA used, both, Chandra and Spitzer to analyze this gas/dust cloud to discover that this cloud is made up of molecular hydrogen and dust. Dust and hydrogen left over from the creation of our galaxy! Let us breakdown this image into its component parts. Our image is broken down as; Spitzer data is shown in red, green and blue and shows the molecular cloud (in the bottom part of the image) plus young stars in and around Cepheus B. Now, the Chandra data is shown in violet, and shows the young stars in the field. The Chandra observations allowed scientists to pick out the young stars within and near Cepheus B, they were identified by their strong x-ray emissions. On the other hand the Spitzer data showed whether the (visible) stars has so-called ‘protoplanetary’ disc(s)around them as such discs only exist in very young star systems. Ones where planets are still forming, so their presence is an indication of the age of a star system.

Tycho's Supernova Remnant A New View of Tycho's Supernova Remnant

8(Tycho’s Supernova Remnant A New View of Tycho’s Supernova Remnant)

.

Above, My Dear Shoevians, I have the most recent image of the Tycho’s Supernova Remnant. Also known as SN 1572 is located in the constellation Cassiopeia. The appearance of SN 1572, in the Milky Way Galaxy, was one of just eight supernova’s sighted just by the naked eye in November 1572 and is/was one of the most important observation events in the history of astronomy .The appearance of this supernova pushed mankind to develop and produce better astrometric star catalogues. As well, in the Ming dynasty China, the star became an issue between Zhang Juzheng and the young Wanli Emperor: in accordance to the cosmological tradition, the emperor was warned to consider his misbehavior, since the new star was interpreted as an evil omen. This was the very beginning of the west seeing stars as science, whereas the east still associated the stars with dogma and superstition. This image is a composite image made from observations from the Chandra X-Ray telescope and the Calar Alto observatory, in Spain. The, initial, explosion has left a blazing hot cloud of expanding debris (yellow and green) that is visible in x-rays.

Galactic Center NASA's Great Observatories Examine the Galactic Center Region

9(Galactic Center NASA’s Great Observatories Examine the Galactic Center Region)

.

Our next image, My Dear Shoevians, was taken as a part of the celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 . It was one of the first really coordinated efforts between three of NASA’s Great Observatories; the Hubble Space Telescope10, the Spitzer Space Telescope11, and the Chandra X-ray Observatory12Their efforts were rewarded with the collaboration to produce the single most unprecedented image of the central region of our Milky Way galaxy. This image became one of the most admired, awarded and memorable of the entire celebration and gave NASA, and America, greater standing in the international astronomical society. This was a huge boon for NASA, America and our American Know-How. The observations by the Chandra X-Ray telescope to see through the obscuring dust and reveal the intense activity near the galactic core. Note that the center of the galaxy is located within the bright white region to the right of and just below the middle of the image. Below is a breakdown of the contribution(s) of each platform in the production of this historic image.

.

Each telescope’s contribution is presented in a different color:

  • Yellow represents the near-infrared observations of Hubble. They outline the energetic regions where stars are being born as well as reveal hundreds of thousands of stars.
  • Red represents the infrared observations of Spitzer. The radiation and winds from stars create glowing dust clouds that exhibit complex structures from compact, spherical globules to long, stringy filaments.
  • Blue and violet represents the X-ray observations of Chandra. X-rays are emitted by gas heated to millions of degrees by stellar explosions and by outflows from the supermassive black hole in the galaxy’s center. The bright blue blob on the left side of the full field image is emission from a double star system containing either a neutron star or a black hole.

NGC 6872 Galaxy Collision Switches on Black Hole)

13(NGC 6872 Galaxy Collision Switches on Black Hole)

.

OK… My Dear Shoevians, it is not the end of the article but one might think so with the sharing of this particular image. Above, we see the collision of two galaxies. They are NGC 6872and IC 4970. IC 4970 is the smaller galaxy at the top of the image. Again, this image was created by using the capabilities of three telescopes. However, this time the capabilities and telescopes involved were: X-ray data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory is shown in purple, while Spitzer Space Telescope’s infrared data is red and finally the optical data comes from the ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) is colored red, green and blue. Since the initial discovery of this collision, scientists have been baffled at where was the galaxy IC 4970 getting energy from? Thanks to Chandra and Spitzer data, IC 4970 is shown to contain an active supermassive black hole that got its fuel supply by stripping cold gas from NGC 6872 and is using it to feed its growing black hole. Without Spitzer and Chandra this would still be a deep mystery!

E0102-72.3 Adding a New Dimension to an Old Explosion)

14(E0102-72.3 Adding a New Dimension to an Old Explosion)

.

For our next image, My Dear Shoevians, we have an explosion remnant known as supernova remnant 1E 0102.2-7219, or “E0102” for short. E0102 is the debris of a very massive star that exploded in the neighboring galaxy known as the ‘Small Magellanic Cloud’.Chandra first looked at this object nearly ten years ago, just months after the telescope was launched in 1999. E0102 is located about 190,000 light years away in the Small Magellanic Cloud, one of the nearest galaxies to the Milky Way. It was created when a star that was much more massive than the Sun exploded, an event that would have been visible from the Southern Hemisphere of the Earth over 1000 years ago. In this latest image of E0102, the lowest-energy X-rays are colored orange, the intermediate range of X-rays is cyan, and the highest-energy X-rays Chandra detected are blue. An optical image from the Hubble Space Telescope (in red, green and blue) shows additional structure in the remnant and also reveals foreground stars in the field.

M101 A Spectacular Image to Celebrate IYA2009

15(M101 A Spectacular Image to Celebrate IYA2009)

.

Above, My Dear Shoevians, you see a dynamic image of the spiral galaxy M101 also known as M101. M101 is a face-on spiral galaxy located about 22 million light-years from our Milky Way Galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It is very similar to our Milky Way in many respects, except it is much larger. Once again this image is a composite of data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Spitzer Space Telescope. The colors correspond to the following wavelengths: The X-rays detected by Chandra are colored blue. Sources of X-rays include million-degree gas, the debris from exploded stars, and material zooming around black holes and neutron stars. The red color shows Spitzer’s view in infrared light. It highlights the heat emitted by dust lanes in the galaxy where stars can form. Finally, the yellow coloring is visible light data from Hubble. Most of this light comes from stars, and they trace the same spiral structure as the dust lanes. This image was distributed to more than 100; planetariums, museums, nature centers, and schools across the country in conjunction with Galileo’s birthday on February 15, 2009.

RCW 86 A Super-Efficient Particle Accelerator)

16(RCW 86 A Super-Efficient Particle Accelerator)

.

This image is a composite from two observatories, the Chandra X-ray telescope and the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope. We American’s really do have more of a gift for naming our telescopes… don’t you think? 🙂 Now, this image is of RCW 86 a circular supernova remnant. It is believed that this star went supernova about 185 AD, here on Earth, and that Chinese astronomers may have observed the event here on Earth. By studying this remnant, a team of astronomers was able to understand new details about the role of supernova remnants as the Milky Way’s super-efficient particle accelerators. The team shows that the shock wave visible in this area is very efficient at accelerating particles and the energy used in this process matches the number of cosmic rays observed on Earth. I am taken by just how diffuse this supernova has become in just the past 1,900 years. This is just a blink of the eye, in cosmic lifetimes. However, I was struck by the beauty of this image, and it is why I have included it as the last image for this edition of ‘Lost in Space’.

.

That’s right this is the last image of this edition of ‘Lost in Space’. All I have left for you, My Dear Shoevians, is a single incredible video! Much of this edition has been focused on supernova and exploding stars. All of them, in the end, creating the Black Holes that are imagined at the center of all galaxies, including our own Milky Way. It is for that reason that I; searched and searched and searched some more until I found what I was looking for. A video of the (believed) process of the ‘Formation of a Black Hole’! Therefore, without further adieu, I give you my one and only video of this edition of ‘Lost in Space’ titled ‘The Formation of a Black Hole’! ENJOY!

.

(To view this video Full Screen, CLICK the ‘Video Info’ tab, then CLICK File Name. This will make video Full Screen)

.

That brings us to the very end of this edition of ‘Lost in Space’ My Dear Shoevians. As always, I hope that you all have enjoyed your time spent here, today. That you have found the images pleasing, the information helpful and your time spent here, well spent. If that is the case? I ask you this simple request. Please ‘Like’ and Share’ this article with all your; family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances via your social media outlets. Be it Facebook or Twitter, Instragram or Tumblr. Each and every share and like helps me to reach more and more people with my works, with the knowledge and with the ‘eye-candy’ that is these great images of and from the stars. Here’s to you having a great remainder of the week.

.

Adieu!

.

Thank you!
